As a Pre-Construction & Constructability Manager, you are the internal reference for all constructability, industrialization and execution methodology matters during the early phases of projects.
Your mission is to integrate site expertise as early as possible into the study, design and tendering phases in order to ensure that projects are designed, fabricated and installed in an optimal, safe and cost-effective way.
You act as a link between Engineering, Estimation, Procurement, Workshop Production and Construction teams to maximize prefabrication, modularization and pre-assembly opportunities, reduce on-site work hours, improve overall productivity, minimize execution risks and increase the workshop fabrication / site installation ratio.
Your objective is to improve the competitiveness of bids, project profitability and the company’s overall operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Constructability Analysis of Projects:
- Analyze 3D models, BIM models and technical documentation.
- Identify fabrication, transportation and installation constraints.
- Detect technical inconsistencies or critical interfaces.
- Assess execution risks and propose alternative solutions.
- Check site access, storage areas, handling equipment and installation sequences.
- Participate in multidisciplinary technical reviews.
2. Development of Prefabrication and Modularization Strategies:
- Identify pre-assembly opportunities.
- Define fabrication strategies for spools, racks, skids and modules.
- Optimize system breakdown for fabrication and transportation.
- Validate logistics and heavy/exceptional transport constraints.
- Evaluate potential gains in safety, quality and productivity.
3. Definition of Construction Methods:
- Define installation sequences.
- Determine lifting and handling methods.
- Define temporary equipment requirements.
- Study co-activity constraints.
- Develop the most efficient installation scenarios.
- Verify the feasibility of critical operations.
4. Support to Tendering & Estimation Activities:
- Participate in tender reviews.
- Challenge construction assumptions.
- Validate workshop and site man-hours.
- Identify execution risks and opportunities.
- Contribute to the project execution strategy.
- Provide constructability assumptions to estimators.
5. Use of 3D and BIM Tools:
- Analyze 3D models.
- Check access and workspaces.
- Verify handling areas.
- Perform clash/interference analysis.
- Extract quantities.
- Validate prefabrication and storage zones.
6. Lessons Learned and Continuous Improvement:
- Collect site feedback and lessons learned.
- Analyze gaps between estimates and actual performance.
- Develop productivity databases.
- Build standardized method libraries.
- Identify best practices.
- Implement performance indicators.
